Earlier this year I felt like God wanted me to start each day by seeking Him first thing in the morning and praying for my husband from head to toe. At the time Tim was preparing to make a job change, so I thought I was supposed to pray him through the transition.
So each morning after I wake up, I lift my husband up to the Lord in prayer.
Head: Lord, I ask you to give my husband the mind of Christ. I pray You would help him take every thought captive and think on things that are true, noble, right, pure, lovely, admirable, excellent, and praise worthy. (1 Cor. 2:16, 2 Cor. 10:5, Phili. 4:8-9)
Mouth: I pray You would enable my husband to be slow to speak. I ask You to fill his mouth with words that speak life and truth and that the law of kindness would be always on his tongue. (James 1:19, Ephesians 4:29, Pro. 31:26)
Neck: Lord, You have called me as his wife to submit to my husband and be the neck that influences him. Help me to be influenced only by You and to be a blessing to my husband in all that I do. (Ephesians 5:22-23, James 4:7-8, Pro. 18:22)
Shoulders: I ask that would help my husband be a good steward with all that You have entrusted to him. And I pray he would give all his burdens to You and fully trust You with them for Your yoke is easy and Your burden is light. (Matt. 25:21, Matt. 11:28-30)
Heart: I ask you to help him guard the dreams and visions You have placed in His heart. And I pray Your peace would rule in his heart and that You would draw him into Your presence. (Pro. 4:23, Col. 3:15, John 6:44, 1 John 3:19-20)
Feet: I ask You to direct his steps and guide him in Your perfect will. Help him to trust You when You only show him the next step. I pray You would surround him with Your angels to guard and protect him. (Psalm 119:133, Romans 12:2, Psalm 119:105, Psalm 91:11)
As I have been praying for my husband each morning, I have come to realize how very much he needs my prayers. I have said it before and God reminded me again, our husbands need our prayers, and we need to be praying for them. So I will continue praying this prayer for Tim as I seek God first thing in the morning : )
Linked to Titus 2sDay.
Rest in His presence.
