Valentine’s Day is 9 days away, but I don’t need to tell you that. As a woman you have watched as the stores put up their pink and red decorations and filled their shelves with cards, candy, and gifts long before they even removed the Christmas decorations.
But your husband, on the other hand, has entered those stores with purpose. Filled with determination he is somehow able to walk right past those highly decorated displays without even a second glance as he marches toward his target.
Remembering we love our husbands, do the guy a favor and remind him Valentine’s Day is next week. Maybe you plan a romantic evening together or just tell him you’d love if he surprised you, but make sure he knows what your expectations are as you listen to his expectations also.
I love the big romantic gestures in movies where the guy shows up with flowers and sweeps the girl off her feet. Then they ride through the park in a carriage as they sit snuggled close together.
But that’s the movies where they have scripts and seemingly endless budgets. In real life that same guy is stopping at a Hallmark display pushing his way through the crowds as he grasps for one of the few remaining cards and feeling proud of himself when he seizes the last floral bouquet before heading home
Fact: “More than 50 percent of cards are sold the week of the holiday, with the largest and most elaborate Valentine cards sold 48 hours before February 14.” – Source
Planning a cheese fondue, your favorite meal, or a special dessert would all make your Valentine’s Day a memorable night to celebrate your love, but come back on Friday when I’ll be sharing some special frugal Valentine’s Day ideas.
If you’re not able to celebrate Valentine’s Day with the one you love, don’t let disappointment catch you off guard. Make the day special by celebrating with friends, doing something you enjoy, or pampering yourself.
Let us all remember how precious we are to the One who loves us most “For God so loved you…” (John 3:16)
